POSSIBLE CHANGE OF MEETING DAY

This is a test of my posting ability: Bill Lundgren has asked if the committee would be amenable to changing the meeting nights from Wednesdays to Tuesdays. Would everyone please respond whether you could meet 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Tuesday of the month? We will not make any change until everyone has had a chance to respond. I'll also send emails. Thanks. Congratulations on your first post Jennifer! Keep in mind that you can enter a title for the post which makes it stand out more.

Tuesdays work for me, except that the first week of May are my finals.

Committee Objectives

To provide an open, inviting forum for community members to raise disability issues.

To assist in evaluating the accessibility of Theatres & Arenas’ facilities and services.

To make recommendations for improvements.

To provide guidance and technical assistance regarding access.
To assist with outreach to educate patrons about the different roles of Theatres & Arenas with respect to:
1) venues,
2) promoters,
3) shows/performances,
4) box offices, and
5) ticket selling entities,
thereby assisting with timely and appropriate communication regarding accommodation requests.

To consult and review new policies and services and to advise on operational policies and procedures regarding access.

To act as a resource and conduit for information regarding Theatres & Arenas’ facilities to different constituencies within the community with disabilities.

To assist in identifying funding sources to implement access improvements.

(NOTE: The City of Denver, through Theatres & Arenas, leases its buildings to promoters who in turn promote and produce the events. The City has a ticketing policy for the sale of accessible seating but does not sell tickets, does not promote events, and does not produce events. )

A Framework for Functionality

The Four Elements of Effective Teams

A set of commonly understood goals/purpose
Written and reviewed periodically.

A sense of interdependence
A focus on what each of us brings to benefit our purpose.

A commitment to cooperate
Suggested ground rules: timeliness; respectful listening/sharing; candor in our midst, not elsewhere; freedom to make mistakes, corrections, apologies, and forgive.

Accountability as a unit
What we say outside our meetings along with the impact of our actions, is the responsibility of the entire group.
